The municipal ID card (Carta di Identità) is a personal identification document with a photo issued by the City. It is an electronic identity card that all residents, including minors, are required to have.

Pre-requisite documents:

Follow the procedure below to get your Carta di Identità:

Step 1: Book an appointment

Go to the Comune di Milano website, log in using SPID. Once in, select the reason for the visit as an Electronic Identity document. It will show you a list of offices with available appointment slots, select the one you think is most convenient for you. Once you confirm the appointment you will get an email with your appointment details.

Step 2: Go to the appointment

Go to your appointment location with the following documents (Original and copies):

1. Residence Certificate

2. Tessera Sanotaria/ Codice Fiscale Card

3. Passport

4. Passport size photograph on a white background

Once there, take a token number and go to the counter number when called. They will check your documents and ask you to pay. Once done, they will hand a receipt.

The Carta di identità costs 22.20€ and can be paid in cash or by credit card or debit card at the appointment.
